Join our 5-day desert tour through Morocco’s stunning Sahara Desert with us. Our tour starts every Wednesday and offers a mix of thrilling desert adventures and experiences of Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. You’ll enjoy camel trekking, luxury desert camps, exploring ancient kasbahs, and vibrant cities, promising unforgettable memories.
Experience the 5-day Sahara Desert tour, which includes riding camels through golden dunes, staying in a luxurious desert camp, visiting iconic landmarks, and exploring the High Atlas Mountains and Todra Gorges.
Pick-up from the airport or any point in Marrakech at your preferred time, with a sign displaying our agency name “VACATIONSINMOROCCO.” Transfer to your riad. You have the opportunity to visit the famous Jamaa La Fna square. Also, you can enjoy delicious food stalls, storytellers, music, dances, and games. Overnight in a charming riad in the medina.
After breakfast, we begin our journey to the desert. Depart from Marrakech via the Tichka Pass, crossing the Atlas Mountains with stops to enjoy the magnificent views. An optional visit to a women’s cooperative producing argan oil is available, where you can learn about the process and various culinary and beauty products. We will continue to Ouarzazate to visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and stop for lunch. You can tour the film studios in Ouarzazate, visit Skoura’s Palm Grove Valley, explore the Valley of Roses, and spend the night at a hotel by the Dades River.
After breakfast, we will travel through the beautiful Dades Valley to see the landscape. Next, we’ll head to Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a grand canyon through the mountains. You’ll have some free time to explore the gorges before we head to Erfoud, a city known for its fossils. As we pass through Rissani, the first imperial city, we’ll visit its lively market, where local nomads sell their animals and buy supplies.
Finally, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, at the base of the tall dunes of Erg Chebbi. After a welcome tea at the hotel, you can choose a quad or buggy tour, relax, or go on a camel ride into the desert. The ride will take you to a traditional Berber camp in the dunes for a night stay, followed by dinner and a drum celebration by a campfire.
We highly recommend waking up early to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises over the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, we will return by camel to the hotel. We will spend the rest of the day traveling back to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, one of the longest rivers in Morocco. Along the way, we will stop to see the adobe kasbahs, Berber villages, and geological formations in the Draa Valley. We will then cross the High Atlas Mountains again and arrive in Marrakech. Overnight stay in a riad in Marrakech.
After breakfast, we will start a guided tour of Marrakech. We will first visit the Koutoubia Minaret, built in the 13th century and is similar to the Giralda of Seville. It is a symbol of both spiritual and architectural harmony. Next, we will go to the Saadian Tombs, well-known for their central marble vault, built in the 16th century. Then, we will visit the Bahia Palace, from the 16th century, which shows the aristocratic life of medieval Muslim society. The highlight of the palace is the cedar-wood ceiling of the Ambassadors Hall. After that, we will walk to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon. Depending on your flight schedule, we can transfer you to the airport, concluding our services.
The first day has no scheduled activities, but we offer airport transfer and hotel check-in. The group tour starts at 8:00 am on Day 2, so arriving any time on the first day is fine. On Day 5, there’s a guided tour in central Marrakech from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. You can depart after 2:00 pm, but a cheaper morning flight is also an option. We’ll make sure to arrange transportation to the airport for you. You can extend your stay in Marrakech for an extra night at 40€ per person in a double room and 60€ per night for a single room. This includes a hotel stay with breakfast and airport transfer.
In addition to the 5-day tour, we offer a 6-day desert tour, which includes an extra night in Marrakech with a guided visit and departure the following day.
